Instructions for the Pressure Test Method of Hydrogenation Reactors (Part 2)
In the previous issue, we discussed the testing methods used in the hydraulic pressure test of high-pressure hydrogenation reactors. Next, we’ll explain the pneumatic pressure test: 1. During the pneumatic pressure test, safety measures must be in place, and the gas used for the test should be dry, clean air, nitrogen, or other inert gases. 2. For high-pressure hydrogenation reactors made of a single material, the medium temperature during the pneumatic pressure test must not be lower than room temperature. For hydrogenation reactors with linings or composite layers, the medium temperature must not be lower than 15°C. 3. During the test, the pressure should be increased slowly—up to 10% of the specified test pressure, but not exceeding 0.05 MPa—and held at that pressure for 5 minutes, then...

Commonly Used Head Types for High-Pressure Reactor Equipment and Their Respective Characteristics
The commonly used head forms for high-pressure reactors mainly include hemispherical, elliptical, butterfly-shaped, and flat-head types. From the perspective of process operation requirements, there are no special demands on the shape of reactor heads. However, since flat-head heads exhibit significant edge stresses and flat-plate heads tend to be relatively thick, these two types of heads are not recommended for use in high-pressure reactors. The hemispherical head shares the same advantages as spherical vessels: under the same volume, it has the smallest surface area; and under the same diameter and pressure, it requires the thinnest wall thickness and the lightest weight, making it highly cost-effective in terms of manufacturing. Nevertheless, due to its great depth, it is more difficult to manufacture, and thus is typically used in medium- and low-pressure, small-volume reactors.

Structure and Principle of an Autoclave
A piece of equipment used in industrial settings for carrying out chemical reactions under high pressure. Some models are equipped with stirring or heat-transfer devices. It is also referred to as a pressurized reactor. The reactor lid is fitted with a pressure gauge, a rupture disc safety device, vapor-liquid phase valves, temperature sensors, and other components, allowing operators to monitor the reaction conditions inside the reactor at any time, adjust the proportions of the media within the reactor, and ensure safe operation. Conceptually, this is a piece of equipment used in industry for conducting chemical reactions under high pressure; some models come equipped with stirring or heat-transfer devices and are thus also called pressurized reactors. Basic Structure and Principle: 1. The reactor body and lid are fabricated from 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel. The reactor body is connected to the flange via threads, while the reactor lid is a flat, solid-type cover. The two components are joined together by evenly distributed main bolts arranged circumferentially.

Maintenance and Care of Laboratory Reactors
To reduce the occurrence of malfunctions in laboratory reactors, regular maintenance and upkeep are essential: 1. The laboratory reactor should be placed in a well-ventilated and dry area. In particular, the control system must be kept away from humid or corrosive environments to avoid shortening the equipment’s service life. 2. During transportation, anti-vibration measures should be taken to prevent severe vibrations from loosening connections, causing the reactor lid to become loosely attached to the reactor body, or damaging the sealing surfaces. 3. Keep the working environment clean to prevent dust and contaminants from causing poor electrical contact in the equipment’s wiring and other components. 4. Ensure that wire connections remain in good condition. If used for an extended period, check for insulation degradation or loose connections in aviation connectors.

Configuration and Matching Instructions for Hydrogenation Reactor Systems
Weihai Self-Control Reactor Co., Ltd. is a domestic, specialized manufacturer of equipment配套 for gas-liquid phase catalytic reactors. The typical process flow for liquid-phase catalytic hydrogenation includes a hydrogenation reaction system, a catalyst filtration system, and other supporting systems such as hydrogen supply, sampling, cooling, and product purification. Different processes require different process flows and equipment configurations. The reaction system is generally designed for batch production; under special requirements, it can also be designed for continuous production. The core equipment of the hydrogenation reactor unit is the self-suction gas-liquid reactor, which consists of a high-pressure reactor and a stirring device. The reactor features a specially defined height-to-diameter ratio and is equipped with coil tubes and a jacket to facilitate preheating and counter-reaction of the materials.

Use and Maintenance of Laboratory Reactors (Part 1)
After long-term exploration by our manufacturer, we’ve found that if users properly operate and promptly maintain laboratory reactors, they can effectively extend the equipment’s service life. Next, let me walk you through the operating procedures for the control unit. The circuit principles of the control sections in various models of laboratory reactors differ significantly, so their operating procedures should be followed precisely according to the instructions provided in the equipment manuals. The standard operating procedure is as follows: 1. Preparations for power supply: (1) Connect the control unit using power cords and cables, then connect the reactor vessel and its lid, and securely tighten the safety devices to ensure good electrical contact and display functionality. (2) Check the electricity being used...
Flavorings and fragrances are two types of additives commonly used in food products; however, these two products are not the same. A fragrance is a single, pure substance, whereas a flavoring is a blend created by artificially combining various individual fragrances. Fragrances can be produced through methods such as pressing, extraction, adsorption, and steam distillation, while flavorings are primarily manufactured by carefully blending different fragrance compounds and other ingredients according to specific formulations. Therefore, during the production of flavorings and fragrances, reaction vessels are mainly used for fragrance products. Over the years, our company’s collaboration with fragrance manufacturers has revealed that this type of production equipment has certain unique characteristics and specific requirements: 1. Material of reaction vessels: Since these vessels are used for food additives...
Installation and Use of Magnetic Stirred Reactors
Host Installation and Operation (1) Equipment Environment: The magnetic stirrer reactor should be placed in a high-pressure operating room that meets explosion-proof requirements. When installing multiple magnetic stirrer reactors, they should be arranged separately, with reliable explosion-proof walls providing separation between every two reactors. Each operating room must have an exit directly leading to the outside or to a passageway. If explosive media are present, the equipment location must be well-ventilated. (2) Installation and Sealing of the Reactor Lid: The reactor body and the reactor lid adopt a sealing design featuring line contact between conical and arc surfaces. Tighten the main bolts to ensure that the two components are firmly pressed against each other, achieving a reliable seal. When tightening the main bolts, do not exceed the specified torque limit.
Application Characteristics of High-Pressure Reactors for Nickel and Nickel-Based Alloys (Part 1)
High-pressure reactors made of nickel and nickel alloys exhibit superior corrosion resistance to strong acids, strong bases, and other highly corrosive media compared to those made of stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals. They also operate at higher service temperatures, making them one of the most important types of high-pressure reactors currently available. When using high-pressure reactors made of nickel and nickel-based alloys, attention should be paid to the following points regarding their allowable operating temperatures: 1. If the reactor is constructed from a nickel alloy whose primary alloying elements are chromium or molybdenum, and the service conditions of the vessel’s medium could potentially induce intergranular corrosion in these nickel alloys, the maximum allowable operating temperature of the equipment should not exceed the long-term aging temperature that would increase the susceptibility of these nickel alloys to intergranular corrosion.
Use and Maintenance of Laboratory Magnetic Stirred Reactors (Part 2)
In the previous article, we discussed the precautions that should be taken when using and maintaining laboratory magnetic stirrer reactors. Now, let’s talk about the key points to keep in mind during the initial use of this equipment in the lab: 1. For users who are new to magnetic stirrer reactors, it’s essential to carefully familiarize yourself with the equipment’s functional specifications before use, including: the maximum operating pressure, the maximum operating temperature, the corrosion resistance of the main material, the types of openings on the reactor lid and whether it comes equipped with a distillation cooling function, the methods for cooling and heating inside the reactor, the type of valve used at the discharge port, as well as the appropriate stirring speed and the viscosity range suitable for the agitator blades. 2. Be sure to carefully read the equipment’s manual and pay attention to frequently asked questions.
Application Areas and Characteristics of Hydrogenation Reactors
A hydrogenation reactor is a stirred-tank reactor used for gas-liquid reactions. Under mechanical stirring, hydrogen gas is introduced into the liquid phase in the form of bubbles, where it diffuses, convects, and reacts within the liquid layer. Hydrogenation reactors are primarily applied in four major fields, including the chemical industry: (1) liquid-phase reaction processes; (2) gas scrubbing and purification; (3) production of high-purity products; and (4) biological systems. In all these processes, the core component is the hydrogenation reactor itself, which is specifically designed to facilitate the aforementioned reactions and absorption processes. Commonly used impellers in such reactors typically feature six flat-blade turbines or disc turbines, with an air inlet pipe positioned just below the impeller. This arrangement...

Comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of using TC4 and TA2 in laboratory reactors
TC4 is a titanium alloy, while TA2 is pure titanium. Both materials are widely used in the manufacture of laboratory reactors, primarily because they effectively meet the performance requirements of laboratory reactors, particularly in terms of corrosion resistance. The main differences between these two materials are as follows: 1. In terms of chemical composition: TA2 contains 99% titanium and less than 0.2% carbon, whereas TC4, in addition to titanium and carbon, also includes elements such as manganese, vanadium, aluminum, and tin. 2. In terms of mechanical strength and tensile properties: Due to the presence of certain alloying elements in TC4, its mechanical strength and tensile properties are superior to those of TA2. This characteristic...
