Configuration and Matching Instructions for Hydrogenation Reactor Systems
Weihai Self-Control Reactor Co., Ltd. is a domestic, specialized manufacturer of equipment配套 for gas-liquid phase catalytic reactors. The typical process flow for liquid-phase catalytic hydrogenation includes a hydrogenation reaction system, a catalyst filtration system, and other supporting systems such as hydrogen supply, sampling, cooling, and product purification. Different processes require different process flows and equipment configurations. The reaction system is generally designed for batch production; under special requirements, it can also be designed for continuous production. The core equipment of the hydrogenation reactor unit is the self-suction gas-liquid reactor, which consists of a high-pressure reactor and a stirring device. The reactor features a specially defined height-to-diameter ratio and is equipped with coil tubes and a jacket to facilitate preheating and counter-reaction of the materials.

Weihai Self-Control Reactor Co., Ltd. is a domestic, specialized manufacturer of auxiliary equipment for gas-liquid phase catalytic reactors. The typical process flow for liquid-phase catalytic hydrogenation includes a hydrogenation reaction system, a catalyst filtration system, and other supporting systems such as hydrogen supply, sampling, cooling, and product purification. Different processes require different process flows and equipment. The reaction system is generally designed for batch production; under special requirements, it can also be designed for continuous production.
Hydrogenation Reactor The core equipment of the unit is a self-priming gas-liquid reactor, which consists of a high-pressure reactor and a stirring device. The reactor features a specially designed height-to-diameter ratio and is equipped with coil jackets and夹套 to meet the requirements for preheating the feedstock and removing heat during the reaction. Inside the reactor, additional components are installed to optimize the flow field, eliminate mixing dead zones, and enhance heat transfer efficiency. Various structural elements must be rationally combined and optimized through CFD simulation. The stirring device comprises a drive mechanism, a hollow shaft, a shaft seal, a self-priming impeller, and a high-efficiency axial-flow propeller. The high-speed, self-priming hollow impeller enables large volumes of liquid to circulate both inside and outside the impeller. Based on the Venturi injection principle, gas above the liquid surface is entrained by the high-speed liquid flowing through the hollow stirring shaft and then discharged from the impeller. In this way, gas is continuously drawn into the deep liquid phase within the reactor and uniformly dispersed by the stirring action, creating a cyclic process that results in a homogeneous gas-liquid mixing system. This approach achieves highly efficient gas-liquid contact, intensifies the mass transfer between gas and liquid phases, and significantly shortens the reaction time. The high-efficiency axial-flow propeller at the bottom of the reactor serves to keep the catalyst uniformly suspended and to evenly disperse the gas ejected from the self-priming impeller throughout the reactor, including the reactor’s bottom section.
Since the hydrogenation reaction is highly exothermic, the heat of reaction must be removed by cooling water flowing through built-in coils and an external jacket. Depending on the heat of reaction, reaction temperature, and reaction rate, different cooling media, cooling processes, and cooling surface areas can be designed. In industrial-scale equipment, the coils inside the reactor can be arranged in multiple layers, allowing the cooling surface area to reach 8 to 12 m² per cubic meter. When special heat-transfer requirements arise, an external heat exchanger can be used instead.
Catalytic hydrogenation is typically a medium- to high-pressure reaction, making direct sampling extremely hazardous. The process flow designed by our self-controlled reactor manufacturer incorporates a safe pressurized sampling system that enables you to obtain catalyst-free samples safely and conveniently. Generally, the catalyst is added once; however, for special process requirements, we can design a pressurized catalyst-replenishment system that allows for safe catalyst addition during the reaction process. Catalyst filtration is also critically important. Different types of catalysts require different filtration systems—for example, in-reactor sedimentation, out-of-reactor sedimentation, microporous filtration, and pressure filtration. Some filtration systems even necessitate the installation of safety filters and catalyst deactivation systems.
