Comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of using TC4 and TA2 in laboratory reactors
TC4 is a titanium alloy, while TA2 is pure titanium. Both materials are widely used in the manufacture of laboratory reactors, primarily because they effectively meet the performance requirements of laboratory reactors, particularly in terms of corrosion resistance. The main differences between these two materials are as follows: 1. In terms of chemical composition: TA2 contains 99% titanium and less than 0.2% carbon, whereas TC4, in addition to titanium and carbon, also includes elements such as manganese, vanadium, aluminum, and tin. 2. In terms of mechanical strength and tensile properties: Due to the presence of certain alloying elements in TC4, its mechanical strength and tensile properties are superior to those of TA2. This characteristic...

Laboratory Reactor They have wide-ranging applications in manufacturing, primarily because these two materials effectively meet the performance requirements of laboratory reactors, particularly in terms of corrosion resistance. The main difference between these two materials lies in:
This characteristic enables TC4 to exhibit better high-temperature, high-pressure resistance than TA2, especially under conditions where the pressure is 5 MPa or higher.
3. Temperature range for laboratory reactors under high pressure: For TC4 or TA2, neither alloy is suitable for use at excessively high temperatures. At 500°C, a considerable amount of hydrogen can permeate into the material; around 600°C, large quantities of oxygen and nitrogen begin to penetrate, making titanium brittle. Under typical high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, the recommended operating temperature is approximately 230°C, with a maximum allowable temperature of 300°C.
4. Regarding corrosion resistance: The addition of precious metals such as palladium and platinum to TC4 enhances titanium's resistance to corrosion in reducing acids (such as sulfuric acid). For other media, the corrosion resistance of TC4 is comparable to that of TA2.
5. Welding Characteristics: Since titanium is corrosion-resistant due to the formation of an oxide film on its surface, welding must be performed in an inert gas environment; otherwise, complete fusion will not be achieved.
6. In terms of price: The price of TC4 is slightly higher than that of TA2. However, as shown by the performance characteristics mentioned above, TC4 offers better value for money compared to TA2 material.
