Method for the Air-tightness Test of Lined High-pressure Reactors

To test the air tightness of lined high-pressure reactors, follow these procedures: 1. The test temperature shall be room temperature. 2. During the test, the pressure should be increased slowly. After reaching the specified test pressure, hold the pressure for 30 minutes and perform leak inspections on all welded joints and connection points. For small-sized high-pressure reactors, the leak test can be conducted by immersing the reactor in water. 3. If any leaks are detected, repair the leaking areas and then repeat the air-tightness test. 4. The gaps between the lining layer and the base material shall also undergo an air-tightness test at the equipment’s design pressure. For composite plate high-pressure reactors, the gaps between the cladding weld joints and the base material shall similarly be subjected to an air-tightness test.

High-pressure reactor vessel and lid sealing

The high-pressure reactor is a precision piece of equipment. Its sealing surface relies on the mutual contact between conical surfaces for sealing; therefore, the two mating sealing surfaces must never be damaged or scratched. When installing the reactor lid, first place the reactor body in position, then carefully align and secure the lid onto the bolts. When tightening the bolts, always follow a diagonal, symmetrical pattern, applying even pressure in several stages. This ensures that the sealing surfaces between the lid and the reactor body achieve the best possible seal. At the same time, avoid applying excessive force—too much torque can accelerate wear and reduce the service life of the sealing surfaces. After removing the reactor lid, it is recommended to use a dedicated rack specifically designed for storing the lid, thereby preventing damage caused by various factors.

Instructions for the Pressure Test Method of Hydrogenation Reactors (Part 2)

In the previous issue, we discussed the testing methods used in the hydraulic pressure test of high-pressure hydrogenation reactors. Next, we’ll explain the pneumatic pressure test: 1. During the pneumatic pressure test, safety measures must be in place, and the gas used for the test should be dry, clean air, nitrogen, or other inert gases. 2. For high-pressure hydrogenation reactors made of a single material, the medium temperature during the pneumatic pressure test must not be lower than room temperature. For hydrogenation reactors with linings or composite layers, the medium temperature must not be lower than 15°C. 3. During the test, the pressure should be increased slowly—up to 10% of the specified test pressure, but not exceeding 0.05 MPa—and held at that pressure for 5 minutes, then...

Structure and Principle of an Autoclave

A piece of equipment used in industrial settings for carrying out chemical reactions under high pressure. Some models are equipped with stirring or heat-transfer devices. It is also referred to as a pressurized reactor. The reactor lid is fitted with a pressure gauge, a rupture disc safety device, vapor-liquid phase valves, temperature sensors, and other components, allowing operators to monitor the reaction conditions inside the reactor at any time, adjust the proportions of the media within the reactor, and ensure safe operation. Conceptually, this is a piece of equipment used in industry for conducting chemical reactions under high pressure; some models come equipped with stirring or heat-transfer devices and are thus also called pressurized reactors. Basic Structure and Principle: 1. The reactor body and lid are fabricated from 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel. The reactor body is connected to the flange via threads, while the reactor lid is a flat, solid-type cover. The two components are joined together by evenly distributed main bolts arranged circumferentially.

Installation and Use of Magnetic Stirred Reactors

Host Installation and Operation (1) Equipment Environment: The magnetic stirrer reactor should be placed in a high-pressure operating room that meets explosion-proof requirements. When installing multiple magnetic stirrer reactors, they should be arranged separately, with reliable explosion-proof walls providing separation between every two reactors. Each operating room must have an exit directly leading to the outside or to a passageway. If explosive media are present, the equipment location must be well-ventilated. (2) Installation and Sealing of the Reactor Lid: The reactor body and the reactor lid adopt a sealing design featuring line contact between conical and arc surfaces. Tighten the main bolts to ensure that the two components are firmly pressed against each other, achieving a reliable seal. When tightening the main bolts, do not exceed the specified torque limit.

Application Characteristics of High-Pressure Reactors for Nickel and Nickel-Based Alloys (Part 1)

High-pressure reactors made of nickel and nickel alloys exhibit superior corrosion resistance to strong acids, strong bases, and other highly corrosive media compared to those made of stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals. They also operate at higher service temperatures, making them one of the most important types of high-pressure reactors currently available. When using high-pressure reactors made of nickel and nickel-based alloys, attention should be paid to the following points regarding their allowable operating temperatures: 1. If the reactor is constructed from a nickel alloy whose primary alloying elements are chromium or molybdenum, and the service conditions of the vessel’s medium could potentially induce intergranular corrosion in these nickel alloys, the maximum allowable operating temperature of the equipment should not exceed the long-term aging temperature that would increase the susceptibility of these nickel alloys to intergranular corrosion.

What are the functions of a magnetic stirrer reactor?

The magnetic drive reactor features a static sealing structure, and the agitator is connected to the motor via a magnetic coupling. Thanks to its non-contact torque transmission and the replacement of dynamic seals with static seals, this design completely eliminates leakage problems that previously could not be solved by mechanical or packing seals, ensuring that all stirring components and the entire reaction medium operate in a state of absolute containment. Introduction to the HCF Magnetic Drive Reactor: The HCF magnetic drive reactor is an intermittently operated chemical reactor. All components that come into contact with the reaction medium are made of 1Cr18Ni9Ti, which provides excellent corrosion resistance during the reaction process. This magnetic drive reactor employs a static sealing design.

Application of High-Pressure Reactors in Supercritical Water-Related Experiments

Supercritical water is the state of water under conditions of high temperature (above 374°C) and high pressure (above 22.1 MPa). This supercritical water possesses many unique characteristics. For instance, it exhibits exceptionally strong oxidizing properties. When a reaction medium requiring treatment is placed into supercritical water and oxygen is then dissolved into it, its oxidizing power surpasses that of substances such as potassium permanganate. Moreover, many substances can be burned in supercritical water; additionally, supercritical water can dissolve a wide range of substances that are insoluble under conventional conditions, and after dissolution, the volume of these substances significantly shrinks. Fourth, supercritical water displays an extraordinary catalytic effect, greatly accelerating the rate of catalytic reactions. The numerous advantages of supercritical water have made it a valuable tool for researchers.

Control Methods for Temperature Precision in Laboratory Reactor Operation

Weihai Self-Control Reactor Co., Ltd. specializes in the manufacture of laboratory reactors with a high degree of control. Regarding the temperature control accuracy of reactors used during customer experiments, the following methods can be employed to improve it: 1. For laboratory reactors with smaller vessel volumes and operating at very high temperatures, the temperature control accuracy is primarily achieved through segmented temperature control via intelligent programs on the temperature controller. During operation, the temperature controller performs PID self-tuning, ensuring that the temperature is tentatively heated and controlled around the setpoint temperature of the equipment. This temperature-control method typically achieves an accuracy of about 1 to 1.5 degrees Celsius, making it well-suited for applications where precise temperature control is required but not extremely stringent.

General requirements for level gauges installed on high-pressure reactors

High-pressure reactors sometimes need to be equipped with level gauges according to customer requirements. The general requirements for installing level gauges are as follows: 1. The level gauge should be selected based on the medium of the high-pressure reactor, the maximum allowable working pressure (or design pressure), and the design temperature. 2. Before using the level gauge, for equipment with a design pressure less than 10.0 MPa, a hydraulic test shall be conducted at 1.5 times the nominal pressure of the level gauge; for equipment with a design pressure equal to or greater than 10.0 MPa, a hydraulic test shall be conducted at 1.25 times the nominal pressure of the level gauge. 3. For high-pressure reactors storing materials at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius, frost-resistant level gauges should be selected.
