The propeller-type and paddle-type hydrogenation reactors have lower shear stress compared to the vertical-vane turbine type.
Applicable scope of hydrogenation reactors: A relatively practical approach is to determine the suitable slurry type based on the effectiveness of the stirring process and the flow characteristics induced by the agitator. Since slurry types in the Soviet Union are often influenced by local customs, they differ from those commonly used in China. We strongly recommend classifying slurry types into two major categories: rapid-type and slow-speed type. The former is suitable for operations under turbulent flow conditions, while the latter is more appropriate for clean-flow conditions. When selecting a hydrogenation reactor, the slurry type and baffle specifications should be determined according to the intended stirring purpose and the resulting flow characteristics. The decision on flow characteristics is significantly affected by the viscosity of the stirring medium. The applicable scope is quite specific, taking into account not only the slurry type and stirring purpose but also the viscosity range of the substances involved and the corresponding range of stirring speeds and tank volumes. The proposed selection table is designed based on both the effectiveness of the stirring process and the flow characteristics after stirring. Its advantage lies in the fact that it clearly defines the applicable scope of each slurry type according to the distinct characteristics of different stirring processes, making the selection process even more precise. The basis and effectiveness of hydrogenation reactor model selection remain highly consistent. Below, we will provide further explanations regarding several key processes. Homogeneous liquid mixing with high viscosity is one of the easier stirring processes; however, it becomes challenging when the tank volume is very large and the required mixing time is short. Due to the driving force...

Scope of application for hydrogenation reactors:
Determining the appropriate slurry type based on the effectiveness of the mixing process and the flow characteristics induced by the agitator is a relatively practical approach. Since the Soviet Union’s selection of slurry types reflects its own national conventions, these types differ from those commonly used in China.
We strongly recommend classifying impeller types into two major categories: rapid-type and slow-speed type. The former is suitable for applications involving fluid flow, while the latter is appropriate for clean-process operations. When selecting a hydrogenation reactor, the impeller type and baffle specifications should be determined based on the intended mixing purpose and the nature of the fluid flow. The choice of fluid flow regime is significantly influenced by the viscosity of the mixing medium. This approach offers a highly practical application scope, taking into account not only the impeller type and mixing purpose but also the viscosity range of the substances involved and the applicable speed range and tank volume range for stirring. The proposed selection table is designed to help users choose the right impeller model based on both the effectiveness of the mixing process and the resulting fluid flow characteristics. An additional advantage of this table is that it clearly defines the applicable ranges for each impeller type according to the specific characteristics of different mixing processes, making the selection process even more practical and precise.
The criteria and effects for selecting hydrogenation reactor models are fairly consistent. Below, we’ll provide further clarification on several key processes involved. Homogeneous liquid mixing with high viscosity is a relatively straightforward stirring process—difficulties arise only when the volume is extremely large and the mixing time required is short. Since propeller-type impellers offer strong circulation capabilities while consuming relatively little power, they are widely used. On the other hand, turbine-type impellers, despite their high power consumption and strong shear forces, are less suitable for such homogeneous mixing processes because their circulation efficiency falls short when applied to high-power liquid mixing scenarios. For dispersion operations, turbine-type impellers are more commonly used due to their higher shear stress and greater circulation efficiency. In particular, vertical-vane turbines generate significantly higher shear stress compared to pitched-blade or curved-blade impellers, making them especially well-suited for dispersion tasks.
The agitator-type and paddle-type hydrogenation reactors, due to their lower shear stress compared to the vertical-vane turbine-agitated type, can only be used under conditions where the liquid dispersion volume is relatively small. Among these, the paddle-type is rarely employed for dispersion operations. Separation operations typically incorporate baffles to enhance the shearing effect. The reactor housing is made of standard aluminum alloy profiles with a built-in frame; the top cover can be pulled backward for easy daily maintenance and repair. The reactor control panel is equipped with an ambient temperature digital display ammeter, an ammeter, a tachometer, as well as control circuits and adjustment switches, all designed for operator convenience and ease of use. The electrical system consists of electronic components in the agitation control circuit.
All components are assembled onto a single circuit board and equipped with a dual automatic control system. This system boasts advantages such as high speed-regulating accuracy, stable rotational speed, and strong anti-interference capability. It also features comprehensive protection functions, including overspeed and overcurrent limiting. In Guangzhou Youhua, by adjusting the variable-speed knob on the hydrogenation reactor, the AC voltage supplied to the brushless DC motor can be altered, thereby changing the motor’s rotational speed and achieving precise control over the stirring rate.
