Users need to acquire the necessary application knowledge when operating laboratory reactors. Below, we’ll provide a detailed introduction to the functions and features of laboratory reactors, hoping it will be helpful to everyone.
A laboratory reactor is a vessel used in industrial production for chemical reactions! It comes in various shapes to accommodate different reaction conditions. The choice of materials, temperature, pressure, and other parameters also varies depending on specific requirements. Generally speaking, reactors tend to be shorter and thicker. There’s also a synthesis tower—actually serving the same function as a reactor, except that it’s taller and has a smaller diameter. As a pressure vessel, the internal medium undergoes intense reactions, making it a hazardous type of reaction vessel. Various synthetic resins—such as those used as substrates for computer motherboards and inkjet photographic materials—are synthesized in reactors and then processed further. In general, these vessels are designed specifically for chemical reactions.
Characteristics of laboratory reactors:
The reactor is constructed from Hastelloy B2 material, and all contact materials—including all valves and pipelines—are made of Hastelloy. It features a quick-opening design with functions that reduce the reactor body weight and facilitate tilting. The laboratory reactor boasts a reasonably designed layout, a compact structure, and is extremely convenient to install and operate. The safety valve employs a rupture diaphragm with minimal deviation in the rupture pressure setting, enabling rapid, instantaneous venting for enhanced safety and reliability. A needle valve with a reciprocating switching mechanism is used, ensuring durable and reliable sealing performance.
All types of valves are installed appropriately, ensuring smooth material discharge with no dead corners. The feed inlet is equipped with a nozzle valve for convenient feeding. The opening in the kettle lid, as shown in the design drawing, features pipe openings that bend 120 degrees to the left and right outside the backup port, facilitating the connection of hoses and other equipment. A bottom discharge valve is provided to minimize the number of times the valve needs to be opened and to make discharging easier. The bottom discharge valve is a downward-expanding type, offering thorough mixing without any dead corners, and is fitted with a pressure backup valve capable of adjusting the pressure between 1 and 5 MPa, thereby enabling precise control and balancing of the pressure inside the reactor.
The advantages of laboratory reactors include:
1. Unique sealing method:
Since the PTFE lining inside the dissolution vessel has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than the vessel’s outer shell, the PTFE is prone to loosening and leakage when the vessel is heated—or especially when it is cooled. To prevent this phenomenon, all dissolution vessels used in laboratory reactors are equipped with spring-loaded caps that continuously maintain pressure on the sealing surface throughout the entire operation.
2. Strong corrosion resistance:
Since the flask liner is made of polytetrafluoroethylene, it is resistant to corrosion by a wide range of strong acids and strong bases. Minerals, glass, other inorganic materials, and organic substances can rapidly dissolve in solutions of strong acids and strong bases.
3. Easy to operate:
Using a unique wrench, you can easily achieve quick opening and secure locking. It features ease of operation.
