The stainless steel autoclave is a commonly used high-pressure vessel equipment, and there are many issues related to its purchase and use. Today, we’ve compiled and summarized several key issues, hoping to provide customers with useful reference.
Stainless steel autoclaves are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical engineering, rubber, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. They serve as pressure vessels for carrying out processes including vulcanization, hydrogenation, hydrocarbonization, polymerization, and condensation—such as reactors, reaction kettles, decomposition kettles, and polymerization kettles.
When selecting a stainless steel autoclave, you can determine its parameters based on the following points.
Based on the production objective achieved by the equipment, determine whether the changes in materials during the production process are chemical reactions or physical mixing. According to these determinations, specify the relevant parameters—including the maximum pressure that can be reached and whether a vacuum is possible—and if so, indicate the specific value of that vacuum.
In the production process—from raw materials entering to finished or semi-finished products emerging—how many different types of materials are involved? What are their compositions? What are their toxicity levels and chemical characteristics, such as flammability and explosivity, and how do they interact with equipment materials?
After clarifying the above points, it is essential to understand the various interface diameters, sealing requirements, and connection types needed for the production process. Based on the characteristics of the medium, determine the appropriate pressure rating. Also, identify the methods and means of controlling temperature during production—such as using steam, hot water, thermal oil, or other media as heat or cold transfer agents—and specify their initial and final conditions. Finally, according to the reaction and mixing rates and durations required by the process, determine the surface area of the heat exchanger.
Hastelloy Reactor Manufacturer: Hydrogenation Process in Stainless Steel Autoclaves
First, let’s introduce hydrogen cylinders. The laboratory has a dedicated cylinder room for storing hydrogen cylinders. The cylinders are secured using stainless steel brackets. No heat sources should be installed near the cylinders. When handling them, please lift and place them gently—never strike or bump the cylinders. Always use a dedicated pressure regulator. When installing the regulator, personnel should stand behind the outlet side. Use your left hand to support the regulator and adjust its angle, aligning it precisely with the cylinder outlet. Then, use your right hand to tighten the nut, and finally, use a wrench to give it an additional tightening.
When opening the gas cylinder and introducing hydrogen into the stainless steel autoclave, first securely connect the pipeline to both the stainless steel autoclave and the gas cylinder. At this point, make sure to close the inlet valve of the autoclave. Then, turn the main valve on the top of the gas cylinder counterclockwise until it reaches an open position (about 2-3 turns). The primary pressure gauge on the regulator will indicate the total hydrogen pressure inside the cylinder. Adjust the pressure according to the required gas supply for the reactor: turning the regulator clockwise will increase the pressure supplied from the cylinder, while turning it counterclockwise will decrease the pressure. Once the valve is damaged, never attempt to replace it while there is still pressure remaining in the cylinder. After use, when stopping the gas flow, loosen the pressure regulator by turning it counterclockwise, then close the main valve by turning it clockwise.
Hastelloy Reactor Manufacturer: Maintenance of Stainless Steel Autoclaves
1. Regularly monitor the overall condition of the equipment and the operation of the gearbox. If the gearbox lubricant level is insufficient, replenish it immediately. The electrically heated medium oil should be replaced every six months.
II. When not using the stainless steel autoclave, be sure to clean both the inner and outer walls of the container with warm water. Regularly scrub the pot body to keep its exterior clean and its interior gleaming, thereby ensuring its durability.
3. Safety valves, pressure gauges, distillation ports, electric heating rods, electricity meters, and other components such as casings and pot lids should be inspected regularly. If any malfunctions are detected, they should be promptly replaced or repaired.
