Method for Removing Contaminants from the Inner Wall of a Magnetic Stirred Reactor (Part 2)
For magnetically driven reactors that have been in long-term use, some stubborn residues tend to accumulate on the inner walls of the reactor vessel. These residues can impair reaction efficiency or lead to deviations in the reaction products, making their removal a significant headache for most operators. Below, experts from Weihai Magnetic Reactor will provide an online explanation to address this issue. The main removal methods include mechanical cleaning, alkaline and steam cleaning, acid pickling, solvent-based removal, detergent cleaning, and ultrasonic cleaning. This chapter focuses primarily on mechanical cleaning as well as alkaline and steam cleaning methods; for information on other methods, please refer to Method (II). I. Mechanical

The main removal methods include mechanical cleaning, alkaline and steam cleaning, acid pickling, solvent-based removal, detergent cleaning, and ultrasonic cleaning. This chapter primarily focuses on mechanical cleaning as well as alkaline and steam cleaning methods; for information on the use of other methods, refer to Method (II).
I. Mechanical Cleaning and Surface Finishing of Equipment
This method includes techniques such as polishing, dry sandblasting, wet sandblasting, wire brushing, and grinding with abrasive wheels. Polishing is primarily used to remove carbon deposits from the inner surface of the magnetic reactor vessel.
Dry blasting is suitable for removing oxides, carbon deposits, and other substances from the inside of the furnace, while wet blasting is ideal for cleaning lighter, adherent deposits.
Wire brushes and grinding wheels are suitable for removing scale, corrosion, and rust. Special attention should be paid to the fact that if the reactor vessel interior is coated or has a surfacing weld layer, mechanical cleaning methods must not be used; instead, chemical methods must be employed to remove contaminants.
II. Alkaline Washing and Steam Cleaning
Alkaline washing is suitable for removing oil deposits, carbon buildup, and other substances from the reactor vessel; it is commonly used for magnetic reaction vessels made of alloy materials. After cleaning equipment using the alkaline washing process, it is essential to thoroughly rinse away any residual alkaline solution.
The steam cleaning method is an improved hot-alkali cleaning technique that is particularly suitable for use inside vessels. It can effectively remove both inorganic and various organic contaminants from surfaces; however, this method is not capable of removing contaminants lodged deep within more severe defects.
