What is a microreactor?
A microreactor is broadly understood as a stainless steel vessel designed to facilitate physical or chemical reactions. In accordance with various process requirements, the vessel’s structural design, parameter specifications, design conditions, process procedures, inspection and manufacturing practices, and acceptance criteria must all comply with relevant technical standards. The microreactor can perform heating, evaporation, cooling, and low-speed mixing functions necessary to meet process demands. Pressure vessels shall conform to the GB150 standard for “Steel Pressure Vessels,” while atmospheric-pressure vessels shall comply with the NB/T47003.1-2009 standard for “Steel Welded Atmospheric-Pressure Vessels.” Consequently, the pressure requirements of the reaction process will also dictate different design specifications for the vessel. A microreactor is broadly understood as a stainless steel vessel designed to facilitate physical or chemical reactions. In accordance with various process requirements, the vessel’s structural design, parameter specifications, design conditions, process procedures, inspection and manufacturing protocols, as well as acceptance criteria, must all comply with relevant technical standards. Such reactors can perform heating, evaporation, cooling, and low-speed mixing functions necessary for specific processes. Pressure vessels shall conform to the GB150 standard—“Steel Pressure Vessels,” while atmospheric-pressure vessels shall comply with the NB/T47003.1-2009 standard—“Steel Welded Atmospheric-Pressure Vessels.” Consequently, the pressure requirements of the reaction process dictate different design specifications for the vessel. Production is carried out strictly in compliance with the corresponding standards, including machining, inspection, and commissioning. Since stainless steel reactors vary depending on factors such as production processes and operating conditions, their structural designs and parameter specifications also differ accordingly. In other words, reactors with different structural configurations are considered non-standard container equipment.
A microreactor is a comprehensive reaction vessel whose structural design, functional features, and accompanying components are tailored to specific reaction conditions. From the very beginning, the supply, reaction, and raw materials undergo pre-set reaction stages with a high degree of automation. During the reaction process, critical parameters such as temperature, pressure, kinetic control (including stirring and explosion prevention), and concentrations of reactants and products can all be rigorously controlled. The typical structure of a microreactor consists of a floating body, a drive mechanism, a mixing device, a heating system, a cooling system, and a sealing device. Corresponding auxiliary equipment includes fractionation columns, condensers, spray devices, collection tanks, and filters.
The materials commonly used for microreactors include carbon steel, stainless steel, zirconium, nickel-based alloys (such as Hastelloy and Monel), and other composite materials. The reaction chamber can be fabricated from stainless steel grades such as SUS304 and SUS316L. Agitators come in various types, including anchor, frame, paddle, turbine, scraper, combined, and rotary designs, and can be equipped with harmonic gear reducers, stepless variable-speed reducers, or speed-adjustable drives to meet the specific reaction requirements of diverse materials. Sealing devices may employ mechanical seals, packing seals, or other sealing configurations. For heating and cooling, clamp-type, half-tube, coil, and Miller-plate structures can be utilized. Steam, electric heating, and thermal oil systems can satisfy process demands under a variety of operating conditions, including resistance to acids, high temperatures, wear, and corrosion. Furthermore, these reactors can be designed and manufactured according to specific user process requirements.
What are the precautions for using a microreactor?
1. First, turn on the power switch, then let the machine run at a higher speed but at a slower pace. When shutting down, stop the machine and then turn off the switch.
2. The seals need to be cleaned regularly. Remove the sealing ring, check the shaft for any dirt, wipe it clean with a soft cloth, apply a small amount of vacuum grease, and reassemble it. This will help keep both the shaft and the sealing ring smooth.
3. The PTFE switches in various locations should not be tightened excessively, as this can easily damage the glass.
4. Purchasing genuine factory parts is essential; using other parts at random could cause fatal damage to the machine.
5. Do not allow water to enter electrical components, and absolutely avoid exposure to moisture.
